Artist
Simon Honey had the concept and was the catalyst for a Recycled
Fashion Show in Sutton. On
the project he engaged with over 70 young people, giving them knowledge of the
environmental impact of the Fashion Industry, and inspiration / advice on garment
designs. Their final designs celebrated individual creativity and the young
people involved 'strutted' their stuff on the catwalk at a local night club. Helen
Young (ex BBC Weather presenter), was the celebrity compere. Right: Crisp
packet dress, bubble wrap cape. Our
student's really enjoyed working with Simon Honey creating recycled costumes.
The individual attention they received allowed them to produce highly individual
costumes and they found it very inspiring working with a visiting artist. Student's
made very impressive costumes using recycled materials and enjoyed the final catwalk
session, where they modeled their costumes for the rest of the group Ms
Dormer, Art teacher Glenthorne High School. |
